Submission for Authors Publish Magazine

Guidelines for Authors Publish Magazine

We’re currently open to submissions! Please read our guidelines carefully before submitting. Unfortunately, we won’t be able to respond to submissions that don’t meet these guidelines.

What We Publish

We only publish articles and eBooks that focus on various aspects of writing and publishing. Our standard payment for most articles is $50. However, we do offer up to $150 for longer articles that are part of our special issues. Typically, our articles range from 300 to 1200 words in length. We have a firm policy of not negotiating our rates. Additionally, we pay $550 for eBooks that are around 10,000 words. Please note that all our payments are made in USD, despite being based in Canada.

What We Don’t Publish

WE DO NOT PUBLISH CREATIVE WRITING. This includes NO poetry, NO memoir, and NO fiction. Submissions of this nature will not receive a response.

WE ARE NOT INTERESTED in articles about freelance writing.

We DO NOT publish reprints. We ask for exclusive rights to publish your article, but after six months the rights revert to you. However, we ask that Authors Publish always be credited as the first publisher.

WE DO NOT accept publisher reviews, literary journal reviews, or publisher-focused list articles from freelance writers without a pitch first.

It should go without saying, but WE DO NOT publish plagiarized work. If we catch a submitter plagiarizing we will not publish their work or work with them again in the future.

We DO NOT publish any AI written articles, even with human edits. If you submit an article with any AI written content at all, we will not consider future submissions from you and will delete them unread.

How to Submit to Us

To submit, email [email protected]. You can pitch an unwritten article in 70 words or less in the email body. For full articles, attach a .doc, .docx, or .rtf file or paste the text into the email.

The subject line should include your article title and full name. In the email body, include your full name and a 50-word bio.

We respond to submissions within a month. If you haven’t heard from us after a month, you can query. Please don’t query before then.

Here’s an overview of what we are currently looking for:

Feature Articles About Writing and Publishing

We are particularly interested in articles that focus on the specifics of promoting writing and building an author’s career. This includes topics such as traditional publishing, self-publishing, agents, publishers, conferences, and self-promotion.

We are not looking for overview articles that cover broad subjects. Instead, we prefer in-depth articles that explore the mechanics and craft of writing.

Currently, we are seeking case studies that detail how authors secured traditional publishing deals for their debut books.

You can find an example of this type of article here. These articles typically range from 300-600 words and are paid at a rate of $50.

Here are some examples of the types of articles we like to publish:

Special Issue Articles

Special Issue articles are comprehensive pieces that cater to a broad audience of authors. Since these articles are featured individually, they should be engaging enough to capture the attention of a wide range of readers.

We offer a payment of $100 to $150 for Special Issue articles, which typically span around 1000 words. When submitting a pitch for a Special Issue article, please provide a detailed overview of at least 50 words.

We tend to accept most Special Issue articles based on their pitches, especially those that involve research.

Past successful special issue articles include:

eBooks

We pay approximately $550 for all published eBooks, with the potential for additional earnings from sales, new editions, and other opportunities. Please note that our eBooks are initially offered for free. To be considered, eBooks should have a minimum length of 10,000 words. Many of our eBook contributors have previously published articles with us before submitting eBook proposals. Our most successful eBooks include.. Submit Publish Repeat and The Yearly Guide to Manuscript Publishers.
