The Fiddlehead
This respected Canadian magazine is accepting international submissions for fiction, non-fiction, poetry, and translations through Submittable during this reading period. Canadian submissions are only accepted during the Spring reading period. Mailed submissions are accepted year-round.
The magazine actively seeks submissions from underrepresented communities, including BIPOC writers, writers with disabilities, 2SLGBTQIA+ writers, and others. If applicable, you may choose to self-identify in your cover letter.

The Cincinnati Review
They accept submissions for their print magazine three times a year, with the next opening on December 1. Submissions will be accepted for fiction, fiction translations, poetry, poetry translations, literary nonfiction, and queries for drama, and will close when filled.
The miCRo category, which is published online, is currently open for submissions.
The print journal accepts submissions of up to 40 pages for fiction, up to 20 pages for non-fiction, and up to 5 poems. The miCRo category accepts submissions of 500 words for prose and 32 lines for poetry.
Payment for the print journal is $25 per page for prose and $30 per page for poetry. Payment for the miCRo category is $25 per post or special feature.
The Forge
They open for fiction and non-fiction submissions on the 1st of every month and close once their submission cap is reached. They welcome flash and micro pieces, in addition to other forms of fiction and non-fiction. They will reopen for submissions on December 1st.

Griffith Review: Culture Vultures
Griffith Review, an Australian literary and current affairs journal, is accepting fiction and non-fiction submissions for Issue 88, themed “Culture Vultures.” The journal seeks to explore the impact of the digital age on culture, criticism, and personal taste.
Submissions should address questions such as: How do we discern quality content? Has the notion of culture become obsolete? What role does criticism play in this ever-changing landscape? And how do form and content intersect in the digital era?

Book Worms Zine: Space and Science Fiction Horror
They are seeking submissions for their Winter 2025 issue, centered around the theme of Space and Science Fiction Horror. To be considered, submissions must incorporate horror elements, rather than solely focusing on science fiction.
The publication tends to favor “fun,” 80s-style horror that aligns with its retro vibe. However, they are also open to fresh voices that bring new perspectives to the genre.

Channel Magazine
This Ireland-based magazine publishes fiction, non-fiction, and poetry, with a focus on work that explores the human relationship with nature. They welcome pieces that directly address environmental concerns, as well as those that use natural imagery or settings as metaphors.
The magazine reopened for fiction and poetry submissions on November 15 and will accept submissions in these genres until December 31, 2024. Non-fiction submissions are accepted on an ongoing basis for both print and online publication.

Rosarium Publishing: Planet Black Joy
This anthology of speculative fiction seeks submissions from women and non-binary individuals who identify as Black, African, or of Afro-descendent heritage. The focus is on stories that explore and celebrate Black joy and pleasure, showcasing a variety of experiences and emotions.
The editors invite submissions that highlight Black joy in both fantastical and mundane settings, across different time periods, and in various forms, such as catharsis, irreverence, and resilience. They also welcome translations and reprints.
