Kalilah lay in bed that evening as she ruminated over the day’s events. The aroma of the stew she was cooking meant nothing to her even though she was hungry. Here she was trying to figure out why she wasn’t lucky like Violet. Was there something Violet did that she didn’t do?
Kalilah made up her mind to visit them again particularly when her husband was around so she could ask him some questions.
Kalilah got up and walked to the kitchen, she opened the pot as the aroma from the pot with the pieces of meat made her smile. She had already boiled rice with Cole slaw for dinner. She reduced the heat a little and picked a plate to dish her food.
Her phone rang. It was bro Micheal the head usher.
“Hello, good evening sir”
“Good evening sis Kalilah, how are you doing?”
“I’m fine Sir, thanks.”
“Will you be in church tomorrow?”
“Yes, I’m always in church, but why did you ask?”
” I’ll be coming with my sister to church and I’ll want you to speak with her”
“Ok, that’s not a problem but I thought the hospitality unit would take care of that”
“Yes, sis Kalilah, but I still want you to speak with her”
“It’s ok. See you tomorrow. Good night Sir.”
Bro Micheal, the head usher served faithfully in the church since he relocated to Eden town three years back. He had a doctoral degree in mathematical physics. But on relocating to Eden, he could only secure a job as a primary school teacher.
He had previously worked in a multinational company as the lead surveyor. But God instructed him to resign and relocate to that town. God promised to bless him if only obeyed him. Bro Micheal did and now God led him to marry Sis Kalilah.

“Good afternoon sis Kalilah, how was this service today? I want you to meet Betty my younger sister, she came visiting and I thought it would be nice for you to meet her.”
“Sis Betty, you’re welcome to our church. Hope you enjoyed the service. I know bro Micheal is taking good care of you”
“Yes ma, I really enjoyed the service. I love your church. I came to pay a visit to my brother, it’s been a long time and I miss him”
“Hahahaha, sis Kalilah, don’t mind her oh, I’ll see if this is how she will be visiting me when I get married”
“Oh! Bro Micheal don’t say that. The fact that one is married should not stop family members from visiting except it becomes a threat. Of which I know this is not”
” Yes, you are right. Ok sis Kalilah, as my sister will be leaving now, I’d like to talk briefly with you.”
“Okay, what is it? I’m listening”
“Sis Kalilah, I’ve had this in mind for a very long time now but I didn’t know how to tell you, I felt my sister’s visit was a good way to get your attention. I don’t know how to say it but I know I have prayed and I’m sure it’s you I want to marry. Please think over it, pray, and give me your answer”
Kalilah struggled to suppress her anger. How would bro Micheal an ordinary primary school teacher propose to her an accountant in a big firm? She wondered if he could take care of her with his meager salary.
“Bro Micheal, I appreciate you. I have to go now but I’ll pray about it and give you your answer in two months.”
“Ha! Two months? That’s too much. It’s been five months since I’ve been waiting to tell you this.”
“Ok, give me at most a month, and I’ll be on my way, bye”
Kalilah walked away quickly. Bro Micheal stood on the spot before he summoned the courage to walk back home.”
Bro Micheal a young brother with a promising future loved God so much. His height made him suitable for the ushering work. He was huge and broad-chested. He is dark-complexioned and you can only identify him at night when he smiles.
He looked great though but people wondered why he would take up a teaching job in a primary school.
Kalilah got home, sat on her chair, took off her shoes tore a sheet of paper, and began to
scribble in her notebook with her beautiful chandelier pen.
She wrote out the names of the three men who had asked her hand in marriage, added Grant Phillips cause he was already making advances towards her and then bro Micheal was the last on the list.
She began to describe each one by their characteristics.
Bro John – Speaks well, not so rich, tall, slim, and handsome.
Bro Roland – short, wearing glasses, chubby, rich and dark.
Bro Valentine – jovial, very friendly, stays abroad, rich, tall, very fair
Grant Phillips – wealthy, bald head, good voice, a doctor
Bro Micheal – very very dark, primary school teacher, usher, tall
She then put the paper into her diary and continued for the day.
“Oh God, I commit my marriage into your hands, lead me Lord to the person you want for me. Lord, I know you have prepared the best for me as you have promised me before now”
Kalilah prayed as tears dropped down her cheeks like a tap flowing unstopped. She desired the best for herself cause she didn’t want to end up in an unhappy home. Even though she had her list written down, she was to open to hear from God.
As she prayed, her phone rang but she didn’t pay attention to the caller, a few minutes later a message came in. She waited to finish her prayer before checking on the caller.
The text message came from her pastor’s wife who had called earlier.
“Sis Kalilah, good morning, hope you had a wonderful night’s rest. Can you come over to my place let’s discuss. I’ll be home by 4 pm. Thanks.”
I had the intention of visiting Violet after work today since her husband just arrived before he went on another trip again. Although mummy’s call must be very important, after all, I can still visit Violet tomorrow after work. Kalilah said to herself.
Her daily routine was to begin each day with prayer, do her regular fifty jumps, and head to the kitchen before showering.
Kalilah looked smart and beautiful each time she appeared out. She takes time to work on herself. Her colleagues at work referred to her as a model even though she didn’t like modeling. Kalilah believed that a woman must appear beautiful anytime she presents herself.

At the end of work that day, Kalilah went straight to her pastor’s house. She knew mummy had something important to tell her. Mrs Williams the pastor’s wife was a very cheerful woman and very generous. She had the interest of everyone at heart.
Kalilah arrived at Mrs Williams’s house but she didn’t meet her except their teenage daughter, Carolynn. Carolynn sat in the sitting room enjoying one of her favorite TV series which showed two different families and how they live.
Kalilah joined in the movie as she awaited Mrs Williams’ arrival.
Minutes later Mrs Williams stepped in and the duo exchanged pleasantries. After the greetings and compliments, Mrs Williams and Kalilah sat to talk. Carolynn just sat glued to the TV she didn’t want to miss any scene.
“Kalilah, as I was praying last night the Lord impressed you on my heart and I had a dream about you. I’ll tell you the dream but I don’t know if you have any challenges or anything bothering you. Even though I’ve prayed for you I still felt the urge to speak with you.”
“Mummy, I’m confused. I have five brothers who have asked my hand in marriage. I don’t really know who to choose. Even though I’ve been praying, I’m still not clear about it.”
Okay, maybe it’s what the Lord revealed to me. I saw in your hand a precious stone somewhat like a diamond. It was glittering, so beautiful. Suddenly you saw another glittering precious stone but I couldn’t tell what it was. You then dropped the diamond in your hand and went for the other glittering stone. You later realized it was truly not beautiful but when you came back your diamond was no more.
Mummy, what could that mean?
The meaning is very clear. Your marriage!
My marriage?
Yes, Kalilah.
A Godly marriage and home is the target of the devil. He begins to fight it right from the moment you make up your mind to do it right. You must be very careful and prayerful, don’t allow him to entice you with beautiful temporal things.
Do not judge a man by the abundance of things he possesses. Look out for values and essential things. A man who loves God will love you. You can check all these through fervent prayers and the help of the Holy Spirit.
That a man goes to church does not mean he’s born again or has the life of Christ in him.
God desires that His faithful daughters are happily settled. He doesn’t want us to suffer in a wrong marriage. But we must not put our selfish desires and gains before God’s plans and Will in our lives.
Kalilah I’ve said a lot today, it’s getting dark. You should be going home now.

Kalilah got home and she remembered the revelation her pastor’s wife told her. Who could be the diamond mummy talked about? And who could be the other person that distracted me from my precious diamond?
I’ll visit Violet tomorrow after work, I’ll need to ask her some questions.
